My friend, Ross, recently said, “Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. All the family gets together, we don’t have to worry about gifts, we eat and drink way too much, and I have my own room to escape to when I need a nap.”

In 1621, the Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving. It was a celebration for the year’s harvest to express gratitude to God. It was also a time to pray for the blessing on next year’s crop.

In 1789, President George Washington proclaimed this holiday “A day of public Thanksgiving and prayer.”

This will be my 15th year spending this Holiday with my wife’s family on the coast of Florida. We always rent the same lighthouse on the beach with a dangerous spiral staircase that one of my boys or their cousins gets injured on every year. Seeing the kids together is a reminder to me of how time passes so quickly. I also get to visit with my father-in-law. He’s a very smart man who knows just about everything – and if he doesn’t, he’ll find someone who does. He has been a huge help and a blessing to me. I give thanks for my family and enjoy our time together.

Thanksgiving is my time to reflect on the past year. I have a lot to be thankful for. I get to perform around the world for clients like Ted Turner, Eli Manning, Donald Trump, Rod Stewart and Michael Jordan. My job is to make sure their guests have a great time. I have a great support system that allows me to work, enjoy my family and friends and continue to grow and support others in their growth.

I believe the more we give thanks for the blessings in our life, the more we attract blessings in our life. I encourage you to think about the blessings in your life. We all have a lot to be thankful for.

My prayer for you this Thanksgiving is to get together with the people you care about. Give the gift of thanks. Eat and drink way too much. And, find a place to take a nap.

Happy Thanksgiving!
