Have you heard of Taido? It’s a martial arts practice based on a positive philosophy that promotes teamwork, giving your best effort, the fact there is always something to learn and a “never give up” spirit. This is why in Taido, a black belt means “Shogun or beginner”.  When you earn your black belt, you are not finished with Taido, you now have all the fundamentals to continue to learn and improve.  In fact, a great teacher will take you to the next level before you master the level you are on.

I have been studying Taido for several years and always learning, challenging oneself and never giving up are principles that I embrace and apply to everything I do in my personal and business life.  And they are principles that my Party on the Moon bandmates share, too.  Believe it or not, this view is very different from how many others in the music business conduct themselves.

In our business, there are performers, who are typically most concerned with looking good.  Learners, on the other hand, are focused on getting better – they don’t necessarily care how they look, they want to be the best they can be.

At POTM, we are learners who happen to also perform.  We believe there is always something to learn to move forward.  New arrangements for songs, new choreography, the latest and greatest in lighting and production and the best ways to work togeather with our clients.   We challenge ourselves to grow and be the best musicians, entertainers and citizens that we can possibly be.

I highly recommend learning something new, a sport, art or music classes. It’s good to challenge yourself. And remember anything worth doing is worth doing poorly until you learn and get good. Look at failure as an opportunity to grow.

If you live in Atlanta check out my Taido school. www.taidokarate.com I invite you to come learn with me.
