At National Party Bands™ we work constantly on the perfect set.  Creating a perfect, non-stop, 3-hour set has taken many hours of thought, rehearsal and experimentation to get a set that will work for any crowd, anywhere in the world.

Party On The Moon® performs a “beat mix” format show. Each song flows seamlessly into the next. We spend a lot of creative time on the transitions from song to song. We perform over 100 songs in any given show! The goal of the perfect set is to get all of the guests on the dance floor as soon as the band starts, and keep them there till the party is over.

The challenge is to be hip enough for the young guests, and still keep the older guests involved. We accomplish this by song selection, pacing of the set and audience participation.

One of the advantages of performing a beat mix format show is that the set is structured so we perform new songs and classics close together. We make it our goal to perform at least five songs that are on top of the charts every show.

There are times when we change the set on the spot. It’s the job of the leader to read the audience and change the set if he needs to.

When we first began the search for the perfect set, we would make changes in the show 35% of the time. Today, it may be 5% of the time. It’s much like creating anything else – it takes vision. Where you are in relationship to that vision, taking action towards that vision and adjusting course along the way helps you reach that goal.

I have discovered there is an art to creating the perfect set. It looks easy from the audience’s perspective, and that’s the way it should be.

We look forward to sharing our perfect set with you soon. Let me know what you think.
