Have you heard the great Ronnie Garrett play the bass? Well, I am telling you it is an experience to remember.

Ronnie knew early on that music was his path.  He grew up in Durham, NC in the 1970s, spending much of his time on Pettigrew Street, a melting pot of legendary musical talent and one stop on the legendary Chitlin’ Circuit.  In this rich musical environment, Ronnie saw legends like James Brown, Gladys Knight, Jackie Wilson and Eddie Floyd come into town. On one particular day, he was invited to watch a band set up, do sound check and rehearse. He liked the way the music sounded and the way it made him feel.  He knew then what he wanted to do – make music!

And making music he has.  In the business for 37 years, Ronnie’s experience is vast and impressive.  He has played all over the world with the likes of Isaac Hayes, Maya, Jennifer Holiday, Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Elton John, Kelly Rowland and Usher – and the list goes on and on and on.

You may have actually heard Ronnie’s music on TV. His music has been featured in commercials for Toyota, Ford, Honda, The NBA and Nike.  And, he has performed on the Grammys Awards and The American Music Awards with Toni Braxton and on Oprah, Live with Regis & Kelley, MTV Cribs, Star Search and many more.   He is also the music director for The Tyler Perry Company, composing songs for Tyler Perry movies and plays.  In fact, his work with Tyler earned him a Grammy Nomination in 2007.

So, you get the idea, Ronnie is awesome! Which is exactly why I am extremely proud that he is part of our National Party Bands family. In 2008, Ronnie partnered with me to form Simply Irresistible (SI).  Ronnie shared my vision for bringing national-level music to a local audience. “My goal was to build a consistent corporate band the same way the big guys do – rehearse the same way, dress the same way, present the band the same way,” said Ronnie Garret. “By building connections with the talented musicians in SI we give the best we have to offer and aim to revolutionize the corporate game.”

Today, Ronnie also leads our band, Jesse’s girls. I am extremely humbled to work with such talented musicians like Ronnie. If you ever get the chance, check Ronnie and his bands out. Like I said, it’ll be an experience you won’t ever forget!
