In October of 2009, Party On The Moon got the call to perform for Donald Trump at the famous Mar-a-Lago Club in South Florida. The guest list included many celebrities such as Woody Allen, Rod Stewart, Regis Philbin as well as Governors and oil and real estate tycoons.

Donald Trump is known for having great music at his parties – he likes his music rocking, not laid back.  He could have hired anyone in the world and here we were invited to perform for the biggest party of the year.

The band was five years old then and this was our chance to take the band to the next level. We started the band with the goal to be the best and now we were tasked with playing for the best.

We worked hard and continued to improve the show.  For instance, we developed a fast track show (songs that flow together without any stops like a DJ).  And, the front line worked on choreography with Beyonce’s dancer, Kimmie Gibson. This was the time to see if we were ready.

We were.  The night of the show was surreal. We had done the work and the night was a big success. Hearing Donald Trump say, “This is the best New Years Eve we’ve ever had at Mar-a-Lago,” is about as good as it gets. We went on to perform the same event for Mr. Trump for four years in a row. Until POTM, he had never had the same band twice.

Band leaders from all across the country have asked me, “How did you do it?”

The answer is simple. We were ready when the call came.  (Some leaders wait for the call and then get the band ready. The reasoning: there’s no reason to rehearse if I don’t have a gig.)

It has been my experience the wait-and-see approach does not work. I prefer to act as if success is certain. If I want to perform the best shows in the world, it would be a good idea for me to rehearse and be ready.

Whatever your goal, start now! Once you begin to take action, help will come from unexpected places. I think the universe is on our side and is here to support us.

If you got the call today to take your life or career to the next level, would you be ready? If not, get ready. You never know when The Donald may call.
